Log-Book :

Each candidate should submit his Log-Book in triplicate before Examination form filling up. The Log-Book will be separately evaluated by two Examiners.

Written Examination:
The Written examinations shall consist of
Paper-I :
  • Basic Principles of Family Medicine,
  • Men's & Women's Health,
  • Continuing Management Problems,
  • Emergency Medicine & Techniques. Short Essay Type questions and Clinical Problems questions are to be answered. Duration - 3 hours.

Paper-I :

 

The Modified Essay type questions and Problem-solving exercises, where the history is interspersed with questions will be given on Common Presenting Problems in Family Medicine Practice. Duration - 3 hours.

 
   
The Clinical examinations will consist of two parts :  
  • One "Long Case" for which 20 minutes are allowed for consultation and 10 minutes for  discussions. Two Examiners will observe the consultation.

  • Four "Short Case" for each of which 5 minutes are allowed for examination of an anatomical area or system pointed to by two examiners and 5 minutes for discussion.

Practical examination:
   

Questions on 20 exhibits are to be asked. These will include items such as clinical photographs, slides, instruments, X -rays, Ultrasonograms, ECG tracings, Laboratory reports, Pathological specimens. Duration-40 minutes.

   
Oral Examinations:
   

Two Examiners will question the candidate on different aspects of Family Medicine, diagnosis management entries made in Log-Book and also their involvement in community based activities. Duration-20 minutes.

   
Examiners :
   

The examination shall be conducted by Examiners appointed by University on the recommendation of the Bangladesh Institute of Family Medicine & Research. Two of the Examiners shall be from Family Medicine.

   
Examination procedures:
   

The Director of the Institute in consultation with the Examiners shall determine all details of the examination.

   
Result Publication:
   

As soon as possible after the examination, the Examiners shall report to the Controller of examinations for publication of the result. Successful candidates shall be declared to have passed the examination and the result shall be published putting the names of the successful candidates in order of merit. Each successful candidate shall be granted a Diploma.
